Ecopark Cachoeira do Macapá
WATERFALL OF MACAPÁ
Just stop, look around and take a deep breath. You are in front of the imposing and beautiful Waterfall of Macapá. At over 80 meters high, it is considered the largest in the region and one of the largest in the Northeast. When seen from above, its watercourse perfectly draws the map of Maranhão.
To reach the waterfall formed by the junction of the Macapá and Mosquito rivers, it is necessary to travel a stretch of dirt road, which leads to the top of the three waterfalls that make it up. Wooden viewpoints guarantee a beautiful angle to appreciate the unique landscape of the place, which is inside the Ecopark, a private property of 2,400 hectares.

TRACK OF EMOTIONS
To complete the tour with a beautiful waterfall bath, it is necessary to walk a trail of about one kilometer through the vegetation. The path presents some obstacles for visitors, with sections of dense and slippery forest, which need to be done with the help of ropes. But believe me, every effort is rewarded in the end.
For those who want even more adventure, the descent can be done by abseiling, with the Ecopark monitors.

DISTINGUISHED RESIDENTS
Located about 70 kilometers from the center of Balsas, Cachoeira do Macapá is home to flocks of swallows. Birds inhabit its banks and it is from there, when the sun rises, that they take flight to form unique shows in the sky.
But not only the swallows that chose Cachoeira do Macapá to live. The bones of a giant capybara have already been found there. The remains are accommodated at Toca da Capivara, a mandatory stop during the trail that leads to the base of the waterfall.
