Caburé

The Península do Caburé makes the place one of the points chosen by travelers to visit the region of the small sheets of Maranhão. Located on an arm of land between the Preguiças River and the sea, the town has a good infrastructure, with bars and restaurants to enjoy the best of local cuisine. Many dishes come straight from the nearby fishing village.

Leaving Barreirinhas, the route to Caburé is made by speedboat along the Preguiças River, a classic tour that lasts almost all day, with stops at brooms and mandacaru. The speedboat leaves mainly from the pier on Avenida Beira Rio, but also from other ports and piers of some accommodations, it takes about 40 km to meet the Atlantic Ocean. The distance between the river and the sea is less than 200 meters.

Whoever arrives in Caburé comes across little houses with buriti straw roofs, which help to compose a rustic and wild setting. It is also necessary to give up some amenities of the big city to enjoy the trip to the village: electricity only with generator and until 10 pm. Believe me, the scenario gets even better. The darkness reveals a sky full of stars to behold.

Tours to the peninsula are usually day trips, but there are also small inns on site ready to welcome those who want to enjoy a little more of the place with more tranquility.
