Save dear! Give it môquiridu!

One of the most popular beaches in Brazil is there, a few steps away and right before your eyes. Jurere International. The neighbor traditional Jurerê is also full of charms.

The name jurerê refers to the Tupi Guarani: small mouth, that is the place where the island of Santa Catarina and the mainland are closest.

For decades, artisanal fishing, agriculture and small commerce were the main source of income. There were no more than a few dozen houses in the area.

TRANSFORMATION

But things began to change in the 1970s, when businessmen bought most of the land on the left side of the region, giving rise to Jurerê Internacional. Thus, they created the city's first urban subdivision.

It was no small feat. About 30 blocks with urban design by Oscar Nienmeyer, who made medium blocks and wide avenues and lanes while taking advantage of the large flat area.

Part of the land was acquired at low prices, from the fishermen themselves, and since then, a more glamorous idea of Jurerê began to appear.

Nienmeyer initially designed a large green area on the land closest to the beach. But little by little, that came to an end.

Mansions began to appear and you only need to walk through the streets to notice the houses. A detail: none have a wall. Take this walk without haste. And don't be surprised if you find cars from brands like Ferrari and Lamborghini.

BEACH CLUBS

In the early 2000s, another phenomenon came that took the name of Jurerê to the world: beach clubs or beach paradouros, where expensive parties and concerts of all kinds take place mainly in the summer.

For some, a way to develop the economy and promote Floripa. For others, a way to show off. And for you, what makes the most sense?

The fact is that in the season it is difficult to find space in the sand at both Jurerê Tradicional and Internacional.

When you can, just relax with the water with almost no waves and usually at a great temperature. There is also no shortage of vendors.

Jurerê is a place to see and be seen. At night, in the open-air mall, there are also cultural attractions, for the family and gastronomic options.
