PRAÇA XV DE NOVEMBRO
CENTRO HISTÓRICO - FLORIANÓPOLIS
Hello dear! Alright moquirido!?
Arrive in the heart of Floripa, Praça XV de Novembro. Around it, the city began to grow, especially in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Right in the middle of the square is the monument to the dead in the Paraguayan War - the oldest in the city. It was built in 1876 with people's money - but never completed. It takes the names of people from Santa Catarina who died in the conflict - but only the whites.
Getting to know the square is also a journey back in time. Almost 100 years ago, coming to the square was for the elites: the women and men of the time did the "footing", walking inside the square with a very clear objective: to seek marriages.
That's why the legend arose that going around Figueira clockwise is a wedding!
Indeed, this happened, but only to those who had possessions. Those who could not afford it, did not even enter the square.

I'll let you know: it's better to pose and prepare to meet our majesty: The centenary Figueira da Praça XV is the queen with about 150 years of life and hundreds of branches.
I'll tell you a story: this species was probably brought from the Imperial Garden, in Rio de Janeiro, when Brazil was still an Empire. First, it was planted in front of the Cathedral. Then, when she was 20 years old, she was transplanted to where she is today.
If you walk "all your life straight" as the manezinho on the island says, and cross our entire sidewalk on Rua Felipe Schimidt, you will arrive at Ponte Hercílio Luz, another postcard.
Along the way, visit Largo da Alfândega and the Public Market, which also have signs like this. Have a nice trip and until the next stop!
Until the next stop, mosquiridus!
