Lagoa do Amâncio

On the East circuit of Jericoacoara, this is perhaps the least popular attraction. The smaller Lagoa do Amâncio ends up "overshadowed" by its more famous sisters, Lagoa do Paraíso (where there is another sign with this one) and Lagoa Azul.

Attention to this golden tip: depending on the amount of rain, Lagoa do Amâncio will be your best option. In the period with more rain, between March and May, the waters here tend to be more beautiful. There, the Lagoa do Amâncio becomes the protagonist. In the dry season, on the contrary, it almost disappears.

NAME COMES FROM SITE

According to the natives, the name of the lagoon comes from an ancient one of a nearby site, of course, with the same name.

The Lagoa is protected by the Jericoacoara National Park, which encompasses three municipalities: Jijoca, Cruz and Camocim. There are 8,800 hectares of area - which gives almost 9,000 football fields side by side.

Here you can go sandboarding with more adrenaline: go down the dunes that can reach 30 meters on top of a board and end up in the water!
