Pracinha de Jeri de is relatively new - it was renovated in 2012 and remains a meeting point especially for those who live here.

It's a place to get out of the "tourist" mode and that changes especially at night. Not to mention the traditional raft with "Eu <3 Jeri", which is very popular to take a souvenir.

From 5 pm, the surrounding streets are closed to vehicles, which increases security for everyone to enjoy the space.

HOMAGE

The square is officially called Edvar Esmerino da Silva, a very popular figure around here. The curious statue of an octopus is actually a tribute to Edvar, who was known as "compadre". He was a fisherman, merchant and became a city councilor.

The people were chosen as a symbol for their relationship with the sea. In addition, it is an articulate and intelligent animal. Furthermore, the octopus is the only animal that has three hearts: a metaphor for the former fisherman's generosity.

TRANSFORMS AT NIGHT

The straw-covered kiosks are reminiscent of the many that can be found on walks along the lagoons and beaches. Even the bandstand, where cultural performances take place, has this format. Around here, events like the Choro Jazz Festival take place, which has been in existence since 2009 and takes place in January.

During the year, it is a place that attracts visitors, residents and bohemians because of the shops, cafeterias and restaurants, often with good live music. It is also one of the best spots to appreciate and buy different types of handicrafts.
