St. Anthony's Square

One of the oldest points in Parnaíba, Praça Santo Antônio is part of the city's architectural historic site, listed by the National Historic and Artistic Heritage Institute (Iphan). Visitors who pass through there find a path full of trees and fresh air. An invitation to sit and relax under the shade.

The square also houses important landmarks such as the City Centennial Monument (1844-1944) and the Civic Center, a space designed by engineer Régis Atayde Coutinho to host parades and other ceremonies.

The square is completed with the Church of Santo Antônio and the traditional Colégio das Irmãs, founded in 1907 by the Sisters of the Poor of Santa Catarina de Sena. The school is now recognized as one of the best educational institutions in the country.
