Trono de Fátima
The Throne of Fatima was built in 1947 in honor of Our Lady of Fatima. The Franciscan priest, Friar João José, who was seriously ill, promised that if he obtained the grace of his recovery, he would spare no effort to build the monument as a way of thanking the Virgin for his healing. Conceived by Friar João José, the project was developed by Heitor da Silva Costa, the same architect responsible for the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro. The Catholic community of Petrópolis came together through donations, religious festivities, promotions, and pilgrimages of faithful individuals carrying stones uphill to help with the construction.

The image of Our Lady of Fatima, sculpted in Italy and brought to Brazil in 1951, stands out at the top of the hill, providing a tranquil environment conducive to prayer and meditation. The protective dome of the Throne of Fatima is supported by seven columns, representing the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and atop it is the 1-meter tall sculpture of an angel.

At the bottom of the sanctuary, you'll find the Chapel of Our Lady of Fatima and the Miracle Room. The chapel marks the end of the Rosary Path, a route of contemplation and faith walked by the faithful every 13th of each month, starting from the Marist Congregation on Frei Rogério Street. From the Throne of Fatima, a beautiful panoramic view of the Historic Center of Petrópolis unfolds.

Over the years, the Throne of Fatima has become a landmark for the Catholic community and for all those seeking a place to renew their faith and connect with spirituality. Additionally, the sanctuary hosts various religious events and celebrations, such as masses and processions, attracting believers from all parts and being part of the Religious Circuit of Petrópolis.
